Voice, Value, Vision

*ASCLS strives to be the VOICE of every laboratory practitioner in the workplace, classroom, community and in the legislative and regulatory arena.  ASCLS promotes the VALUE of our profession as the predominant source of objective health data, as knowledgeable members of the healthcare team, and as competent contributors to quality patient care.  ASCLS defines the VISION of our future by preparing both the profession and its practitioners for exciting new and expanding roles.

Your membership in ASCLS provides you with ASCLS Today and the Montana Laboratory News.  If you have paid your membership dues, and are not receiving both of these publications, contact ASCLS-MT Circulation.

Contact Linda Masin, ASCLS - Montana President, Carrie Biskupiak, Region VIII Membership Development Chair,  or ASCLS with questions about your membership.

FAQs about ASCLS Membership

If I am licensed by the State of Montana, am I a member of ASCLS?

No. Being licensed by the Montana Board of Clinical Laboratory Science Practitioners (BCLSP) is not associated with membership in our professional organization. The BCLSP is attached to the Montana Dept of Labor and Industry and is a separate entity from ASCLS - Montana, although both support quality laboratory testing.

What is the difference between Professional I and Professional II membership categories?

Professional I membership is the same as the previous ACTIVE category. Professional II membership has all the rights and privileges of Professional I, but Professional II members do not receive the publication, Clinical Laboratory Science.

What is Collaborative membership?

Individuals who are currently members of another health-related national organization may join ASCLS as a Collaborative member. This would include such organizations as CLMA, ASM, and AACC.  You must be an Associate Member of ASCP to qualify; the registration fee paid each year does not qualify you as a member of ASCP.

What is the benefit of Collaborative membership?

Collaborative members are entitled to all the rights and privileges of the Society, with the exception of holding an elective or appointive position and voting. They are represented by ASCLS in legislative activities on Capitol Hill. They also receive a discount on registration fees at ASCLS sponsored continuing education courses. Currently, Professional members receive a 50% discount; Collaborative members will receive a 25% discount.

Do Collaborative members pay state dues?

Collaborative members do not pay state dues.

How many members belong to ASCLS?

ASCLS represents approximately 12,000 members, in all membership categories. Almost 10,000 members are Professional.

How many members belong to the Montana constituent society?
